Frequently Asked Questions

How much do hypnotherapy sessions cost?

I offer a range of services that cater to different needs, so the cost can vary depending on which one you choose. However, you can find all the details about fees on my services page. I aim to be transparent with my pricing and make it easy for you to find the information you need. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or if you’d like to schedule a session.

How many sessions will I need?

Based on research*, you will need around 3 to 6 sessions to fully deal with your issue and reach a satisfying outcome. I understand that everyone’s situation is different, and we can always reassess and adjust the number of sessions needed based on your progress and individual needs. Together, we can work towards achieving your goals and addressing any concerns you may have. I am committed to providing you with the support and guidance you need to achieve a successful outcome.

*A survey of psychotherapy literature by Alfred A. Barrios, PhD. revealed the following recovery rates:

  • Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions
  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions
  • Hypnotherapy 93% Recovery after 6 sessions (Source: American Health Magazine)
How long is each session?

Each session typically lasts for one hour. However, there may be some occasions where the session time could vary by around 15 minutes depending on the individual’s specific needs. Regardless of the length of the appointment, rest assured that every session will be customized and tailored to meet your specific needs and goals. So don’t worry about time and focus instead on the profound positive impact that hypnotherapy can have on your life.

Do you offer a guarantee?

As a highly skilled professional in my field, I prioritise the health and well-being of my clients, however, I cannot offer a guarantee for several reasons. Everyone responds differently to therapy and, as such, to provide an absolute certainty that my services will achieve the desired outcome would be unethical. The professional associations I am a member of do not allow me to offer a guarantee anyway. It is important to note that doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists, etc. do not provide guarantees as it goes against all ethical and professional codes. Any guarantees offered by supposed professionals are likely nothing more than empty marketing tactics aimed at deceiving clients into paying for substandard services.

What are your qualifications?

This is my passion and my career, as such I hold myself to the highest standards within the industry. My core qualification is a Diploma of Transformational Therapy and Coaching and a Diploma of Modern Psychology. I hold qualifications in Clinical Hypnotherapy, NLP, and Coaching. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science/Psychology and am a respected member of numerous professional associations.

Can I get a Medicare rebate?

Unfortunately no, hypnotherapy is not covered by Medicare. However, my services are much more affordable than the standard price of seeing a psychologist and you will require fewer sessions, making it a more cost-effective and efficient option for you. I also offer special package deals for clients who book a certain number of sessions in advance. These packages are designed to help make hypnotherapy more accessible and affordable for those who want to invest in their well-being.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

No, it is not possible to get stuck in a hypnotic trance. Even if the hypnotherapist were to suddenly disappear, you would naturally awaken on your own.

Will I say or do something I don’t want to during hypnosis?

While hypnosis can increase your suggestibility, you are still in complete control of your thoughts and actions. Hypnosis cannot make you do or say anything against your will or moral compass. It is simply a state of heightened suggestibility that can help you tap into your subconscious mind to make positive changes.

Can I be hypnotised against my will?

No, you cannot be hypnotised against your will. Hypnosis requires a certain level of cooperation and willingness from the person being hypnotised.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

The short answer is yes, anyone can be hypnotised. However, some individuals may be more responsive to hypnosis than others. It is crucial to understand that hypnotisability is not a measure of one’s gullibility or weakness. Hypnosis is a natural state that occurs daily in different degrees. For example, when we become lost in a book, daydreaming, or driving on autopilot, we are in a state similar to hypnosis.

Many studies have explored hypnotisability and around 90% of the population are great candidates for hypnosis, with 10% of these people being highly hypnotisable. The remaining 10% are considered less responsive. Other factors that influence hypnotisability include personality traits such as openness and absorption, cognitive abilities, and suggestibility. Moreover, an individual’s motivation, belief, and rapport with the hypnotist play a vital role in determining their response to hypnosis.
